Sustainable Quiet Room
For Wageningen University, Sfeerium designed three meditation and contemplation spaces, also suitable for yoga and prayer: quiet places where students and staff can find peace, reflect, recharge and reconnect with themselves. Designing a meditation or prayer room for a university requires a sense of calm, privacy and a warm, neutral atmosphere in which everyone feels welcome.
Soft shades of beige and sand, complemented by pastel colours, form the tranquil foundation. Artwork featuring blurred landscapes invites stillness, while distinctive floor lamps create a soft, warm glow. The strong yet soft flooring features rounded and oval shapes in its design, echoed by the forms on the walls, creating a harmonious and cohesive interior. Special felt room dividers, curved and sculptural in shape, provide privacy, help absorb sound and create intimate spaces where people can retreat. Enveloping lounge chairs enhance these sheltered areas, creating an even greater sense of comfort and security. Plants bring a touch of nature indoors. The result is an environment where you immediately feel the pace slow down and the surroundings become quieter.
